Air conditioning use is on the rise in the United States—in a big way. Nearly 100 million homes now have air conditioning of some kind, and the majority of them—some 72 million—use central A/C, rather than window units or other standalone air conditioners.

Using data from the U.S. Energy Residential Energy Consumption Survey, we made an infographic to show A/C’s continuing rise. Share it with your friends, and stay cool this summer!

EIA’s newest data will be out by this time next year, and we bet the upward trend will continue.
