Spring cleaning is no one’s favorite pastime, but it’s one sure way to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. The Mayo Clinic indicates that a little cleaning can go a long way toward reducing springtime allergies, for example.

But when you break out the broom this season, remember that not all dirt and grime can be simply swept away. That’s because some of it can be hidden below (or behind) the surface. Without proper maintenance, your heating, cooling and ventilation system can hide dust and dirt and send it zipping around your home. Ever experienced that distinct burning smell when you turn on your furnace for the first time in the fall? That charred dust odor could mean it’s time for a cleaning.

There are many devices on the market can check your air quality, and an HVAC technician can help you determine whether your ducts need a good scrubbing. Why bother? The clearer your ducts are, the better they work, and the better the rest of your heating, cooling, and ventilation system works.

That’s also where ecovent can help. Our sensor suite can determine whether any rooms in your home aren’t getting the right amount of airflow due to things like dust buildup. This feature help you detect a cleaning issue before it becomes a problem.
